Update: The Dark Knight Rises of the Planet of the Apes

Hello again everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in quite some time. Again school has been keeping me from posting here. Also huge delays apparently.

Hopefully if you have been keeping up with movie news lately you would know Rise of the Apes has been retitled to “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Which is indeed terrible. It was fine how it was, now its just too much to read.

With “Rise of the Apes” it was simpler and was quite a nod to the other Planet of the Apes sequels/prequels that came with it. Although once you see the new trailer that may give away why it was given such a big title and why it may move away from the other movies. Well here’s the trailer:

Now few things: Something happened when writing the script and seems pretty generic unfortunately. But out of everything really there's only one real thing that bothered me: The experimental drug they use as a connection to give the Apes intelligence is called “The Cure.” I really wish they could have thought of something more intelligent and believable than that. This is the origin of one of the greatest Sci-fi films ever created and the Cure just isn’t going to cut it for this type of movie. They better think of something fast before the summer release date. I’ve been a fan of Planet of the Apes for a while and I think there's a lot of potential for this movie, but it just looks slightly disappointing. Just changing the cure name can save this movie. Also fix the CGI (Edit: I should be less picky here, its not even finished yet). I should point out: Theres nods to Secret of NIMH if anyone here remembers that movie.

At least it looks better than the Planet of the Apes remake.

Extra Note: Stay tuned for the final issue of Inside the Briefcase 8-Bit banner crossover coming soon!

Update 4/16: I may have thought of this backwards on how I thought "Rise of the Apes" was a good fit for this film, since the new extra long title is the actual nod to the old films. I realized this as I watched Battle for the Planet of the Apes. It might sound like a long title now, but I guess we just have to get used to it.
